IDENTIFICATION
GC28FX4 Shale / cinder valley #1 CARL2 N 49° 44.302 W 112° 50.380Difficulty 1; Terrain 4; size regular; Creator: Joci Date First Hidden: 5/13/2010 Date Last Found: 7/7/2010 LethbridgeDescription It is on the top of the hill so some climbing is required. If you are coming from the bottom, try to keep off of the loose material, walk on the grassy part !!!. But you also could come from the top too but it is a longer hike. Still nice view from here of the valley so look around and enjoy !!! I put this one here because I like this park and though it is interesting to see this part of the coulees too. Because it is filled with this interesting red stuff. It is a black, round, regular sized plastic container filled with the usual swag !!! Hint I do not think you need one, anymore !!! Comments
PLANNING
Today was devoted to geocaching. I began with a small set of 3 caches in south Lethbridge. One of these was a high muggle recycling depot, the other two were fascinating little areas in south Lethbridge. I then returned home to plan my next activity.
A check of the geocaching.com web site indicated a new cache had appeared in west Lethbridge. I fired up the truck and made smoke as I pressed pedal to the metal and headed off to see if I could obtain an FTF (First To Find). Unfortunately it was a little green thing in a tree. I think it took me almost half an hour to spot the little fella. Fortunately it was an FTF. I am not sure how many of these I have but I am sure less than half a dozen. Anyway it is now one more than before. I now have 4 finds for the day - more than I was expecting when I woke up this morning.
I then made a new list of 2 caches in the river valley. The first of these had a Travel Bug and the second was simply neat. The total is now 6 for the day.
Pushing my luck I created a new list of 3 caches in Alexander Wilderness Park. Once again I was successful. The total is now 9 for today and 691 for my life.
OUTCOME
This was my 8th search of the day. This was the second of three in Alexander Wilderness Park. This involved some serious hill climbing, but was worth it.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
I truly love the coulee caches. They have been the highlight of my caching activities. TNLNSL. TFTC. Here are three photos:
view from top of hill
cache was under bush
container and GPS unit (GeeCee stayed in the truck)
I am now 8/8 for today.
