IDENTIFICATION
GC1NMPK Catch The Cat Again N 40° 44.681 W 073° 59.438Difficulty 2; Terrain 1; size small; Creator: GrayK & Patty4282 Date First Hidden: 3/14/2009 Date Last Found: 6/21/2010 New YorkDescription This was hidden to replace the archived "Catch the Cat" cache (GCWRE7), which was our 10th find about two years ago. We decided that this pocket park was too cool to leave empty. GPS readings can be difficult here, but this should be close. Bring your own writing utensil. Look for the cat who floats above the holy artwork. At the orange wall, beneath the cat, in the second to last hole on the right side, reach in with your hand and retrieve the cache from the vertical support column. Cache is a square metal tin, hidden from view and camo'ed to blend in to its surroundings. There are often muggles here, but a bit of subtlety should arouse no suspicion. Hint magnetic Comments
PLANNING
Before leaving Lethbridge for New York I made some notes for 6 caches within walking distance of the hotel where we would be staying. I made a half-hearted attempt at one the previous evening but it was too dark to conduct a serious search and I quickly gave up. This was my first serious search, carried out in the early morning hours.
OUTCOME
This was my first geocache in the state of New York. It was an easy find with the description given. The GPS coordinates are very tricky with the high buildings. They get one within the general vicinity but after that one needs additional help with some form of hint. I have now found caches in 6 states.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
My first NY cache! SL. TFTC. Here is a photo of the cat:
approaching the cache areaI am now 1/1 for today. That ended my searching for this trip.
