IDENTIFICATION
GC172T7 Miette River - YLHDAB N 52° 51.803 W 118° 13.500Difficulty 2; Terrain 1.5; size micro; Creator: Daps Date First Hidden: 10/30/2007 Date Last Found: 5/22/2010 JasperDescription In Jasper National Park, west of the town of Jasper on highway 16 at a rest area. At the parking area (suitable for cars, RV’s or transport trucks) you will find a nice spot for a picnic with bear-proof garbage container and toilet facilities here. The Miette River begins just east of the Great Divide, and meanders through the Yellowhead pass to empty into the Athabasca River near the community of Jasper. The name “Miette” is historically attributed to a hunter named Miette who climbed Roche Miette from the south side. Miette Hot Springs is named for the same person. Another suggestion is that the name comes from the Cree word for mountain sheep (myatick), or the French word miette (crumb) pertaining to the nature of the rock. There's a centennial pin for FTF. In accordance with National Park guidelines for geocaching, no trading items are to be placed in this cache. This cache was pre-approved by Parks Canada on October 30, 2007.

PLANNING
Early this morning I downloaded the cache coordinates for two Earth caches, as well as 3 regular caches that I had failed to find when we were here last year. This was the first regular cache that I tried to find.
OUTCOME
After finding the two Earth Caches we continued up to Maligne Lake. The lake was still frozen over so we were soon back to Jasper for a late lunch. We then decided to drive west along the Yellowhead highway and see if we could find a couple of the caches that had eluded me last year. This was the first such cache. It only took about 2 minutes to spot. I can't believe I spent almost half an hour last year without seeing it.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
This was a quick find today. I spent about 20 unsuccessful minutes last year at this time looking for it. Maybe I am getting better at this? SL. TFTC. Here are a few photos:
