PLANNING
There have been a few new caches, and a couple of re-activated caches, in the Lethbridge area. I also noticed a new cache in Magrath and 4 new ones near Cardston. Since the weather is ideal today (warm, sunny, bright blue sky, no wind) I have decided to see how many of these I can find. The overall goal is 11 caches. I have downloaded the coordinates for all 11 caches into my Garmin GPS unit and I have made notes of the coordinates and the hints in a small book I carry with me. This is a valuable backup if I am having difficulty locating the precise cache area. This will also be the first time I have taken my Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera. I am becoming comfortable with the carrying case for the camera, which also has an external pocket for geocaching equipment (tweezers, small flashlight, extra pen).
OUTCOME
This was one of four new caches just a couple of miles south-west of Cardston.
I parked near a gate into the ranching property and headed up an access road beside a small local irrigation canal. The description of a railroad tie made the search an easy one.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
Nice short walk - good to stretch the legs. SL. TFTC. Here are a few photos.

I am now 11/11 for today. Time to head home.
