PLANNING

There have been a few new caches, and a couple of re-activated caches, in the Lethbridge area. I also noticed a new cache in Magrath and 4 new ones near Cardston. Since the weather is ideal today (warm, sunny, bright blue sky, no wind) I have decided to see how many of these I can find. The overall goal is 11 caches. I have downloaded the coordinates for all 11 caches into my Garmin GPS unit and I have made notes of the coordinates and the hints in a small book I carry with me. This is a valuable backup if I am having difficulty locating the precise cache area. This will also be the first time I have taken my Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera. I am becoming comfortable with the carrying case for the camera, which also has an external pocket for geocaching equipment (tweezers, small flashlight, extra pen).

OUTCOME

This was one of four new caches just a couple of miles south-west of Cardston.

This was a great hide. It was obvious that it had to be in the tree but my first survey of the various cavities failed to see it. But I then went over them again, this time being sure to look in all directions. It turned out the cache was up the cavity rather than down.

Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:

This evens the count at 3-3 for the Finds and DNFs. Who will score in overtime? TNLNSL. TFTC.

Here are a few photos.

I am now 9/9 for today. This hide was clearly giving many of the searchers difficulty.
