Lethbridge
Description For 35 years that sound sent Lethbridge citizens hurrying to the corner to catch the streetcar. But they all stopped here. The two large buildings replaced the "car barns" that housed the 10 cars that ran 10 miles throughout the city. The Lethbridge street railway system ceased operation in September 1947. Until then, you could rattle your way over to Adams park on the north side, go downtown, take a city loop or cross the prairie to Henderson Lake. I also remember the car barns as the place people carted their salvage - old newspapers and stuff to help with the war effort in the early 1940s. How much good it did was debatable but at least we felt we were helping and got exercise.
Hint You will have to use stealth as there are prying eyes. I would suggest you come in from the east (as did the streetcars) and follow the fence.

PLANNING

There have been a few new caches, and a couple of re-activated caches, in the Lethbridge area. I also noticed a new cache in Magrath and 4 new ones near Cardston. Since the weather is ideal today (warm, sunny, bright blue sky, no wind) I have decided to see how many of these I can find. The overall goal is 11 caches. I have downloaded the coordinates for all 11 caches into my Garmin GPS unit and I have made notes of the coordinates and the hints in a small book I carry with me. This is a valuable backup if I am having difficulty locating the precise cache area. This will also be the first time I have taken my Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera. I am becoming comfortable with the carrying case for the camera, which also has an external pocket for geocaching equipment (tweezers, small flashlight, extra pen).

OUTCOME

I first tried to find this cache on November 6, 2009. I was the first to log a DNF after the previous find on October 2. Everyone since my DNF also logged a DNF and the cache was finally disabled on March 18, 2010. It was re-activated on April 12, 2010 with a slightly different location and found later that day. I am the second person to log a find since it was reactivated.

I had noticed this had been reactivated and drove over to the area, arriving at 10:49 am. Following the hint, I walked along the fence and easily spotted the signature blue container under the cement barrier bar. This was an easy search as there were no muggles in sight. I put my gloves and camera bag on the ground, removed the container and signed the logbook, replaced the container, took the camera out of the bag and took a couple of photos, put the camera back in the case and began to leave the area ...

Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:

A very nice lady yelled at me from her window - you dropped your gloves. I wonder what she thinks of the whole activity? SL TFTC.

Here are two photos.

I am now 4/4 for today. It is particularly satisfying to finally put paid to these two caches.
