PLANNING
There have been a few new caches, and a couple of re-activated caches, in the Lethbridge area. I also noticed a new cache in Magrath and 4 new ones near Cardston. Since the weather is ideal today (warm, sunny, bright blue sky, no wind) I have decided to see how many of these I can find. The overall goal is 11 caches. I have downloaded the coordinates for all 11 caches into my Garmin GPS unit and I have made notes of the coordinates and the hints in a small book I carry with me. This is a valuable backup if I am having difficulty locating the precise cache area. This will also be the first time I have taken my Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera. I am becoming comfortable with the carrying case for the camera, which also has an external pocket for geocaching equipment (tweezers, small flashlight, extra pen).
OUTCOME
The second search was also in West Lethbridge. I drove a short distance, noticed an alley, and was able to park within a few feet of the spruce tree. I left the truck at 10:02 and spotted the green bison tube at 10:10 am. Eight minutes is not too bad given that there were 4 possible trees where it might be hidden.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
My 2nd 3rd find, this one at 10:10 am. Green is good. SL. TFTC. Here are a few photos.
edge of truck on the left
easier to see in the photo than when one is also scanning the branches
truck on right, cache in second tree from the left
I am now 2/2 for today.
