PLANNING
There have been a few new caches, and a couple of re-activated caches, in the Lethbridge area. I also noticed a new cache in Magrath and 4 new ones near Cardston. Since the weather is ideal today (warm, sunny, bright blue sky, no wind) I have decided to see how many of these I can find. The overall goal is 11 caches. I have downloaded the coordinates for all 11 caches into my Garmin GPS unit and I have made notes of the coordinates and the hints in a small book I carry with me. This is a valuable backup if I am having difficulty locating the precise cache area. This will also be the first time I have taken my Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera. I am becoming comfortable with the carrying case for the camera, which also has an external pocket for geocaching equipment (tweezers, small flashlight, extra pen).
OUTCOME
The first search was in West Lethbridge. I left home at 9:35 am and parked and left the truck near the entrance to a small park at 9:42. A short walk and I had identified the small spruce tree containing the even smaller green bison tube. I had little difficulty spotting the container (at 9:47). I was back at the truck at 9:56.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
9:47 am and a 3rd to find. A great day for caching. Gotta love the green movement. SL. TFTC. Here are a few photos.
