PLANNING
I noticed that this cache had just recently been "enabled". I am trying to keep on top of the Lethbridge caches and hope to search for them within a couple of weeks of them being created. I downloaded the coordinates to my Garmin and made a few notes in a pad I take with me. This was also the first time for trying out the new "sling". I brought my new Panasonic DMC-ZS3 camera as well as the "gorilla" tripod. I will try to keep track of the time during this search as well as take a picture of me in the act of geocaching.
OUTCOME
This was my only search for today. The garmin indicated that the cache was 4.3 km from home. I left at 11:38 am and drove over to the cache area and parked the truck on the roadside opposite the cache location. I left the truck at 11:53 and spotted the cache at 11:57. I was done signing the log and taking a few pictures and was back at the truck at 12:07 PM. A quick search & find.
The gorilla tripod worked well. I had no difficulty wrapping the legs around a tree branch and then setting the camera on a 10 second shutter delay. Lots of time to get in the picture.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
