Cardston
Description This is one of four caches that show some of the amazing scenery near or have a great view of Cardston. Each cache looks in a different direction. This one looks East. Just a short walk East from here and to the right is a clearing with some trees that has a great view of the East hill, the creek area and a park down there. It is worth the couple seconds to go see it. Enjoy the view! In the winter, please do not leave a trail of footprints directly to the cache as it will get muggled. You are unfortunately looking for micro, so please bring a writing instrument. As a bonus, inside the cache is a partial coordinate to a separate multi-cache we have placed in the area. Finding all four “Grand View” caches will give you the ability to find “Grand View – Bonus”.

PLANNING

I wanted to clear this set of 5 caches off my list, but was waiting for the snow to melt. Today seemed like a good day to try this. I downloaded the cache information to my Garmin nuvi and made a set of notes in my small notebook that gave the coordinates as well as the size of the cache. I took my iPhone with me in case I needed a description or any additional information. This time I was determined to take a few more pictures as well as keep time of when I arrived at each location and how long it took me to find the cache.

OUTCOME

This was my fourth search. This is the last one I need in order to have the coordinates for the "bonus" cache. This took me a little longer to determine where I should park the truck in order to walk to the cache. My Garmin suggested the closest spot to the cache location but I quickly realized that this would take me through private property. I circled around the area and left the truck near a public park. It took me 9 minutes to drive from the third search to this one and to get ready to leave the truck. It was a relatively short walk back to the cache area. I left the truck at 12:43 PM and spotted the container at 12:50. Once again I spotted the black bison tube almost immediately. But I decided to sign the log book here since the truck was a bit of a walk back. While signing the log I heard voices and looked up to see two ladies doing some gardening right above me on the hill. They took no notice of me although they must have wondered what I was doing. I took one picture from the cache site and then returned to the truck. I was ready to move on at 12:57.

Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
