IDENTIFICATION
GC20H6P Grand View - South N 49° 11.313 W 113° 18.117Difficulty 2; Terrain 1.5; size nano Creator: Janet and Jim Date First Hidden: 11/1/2009 Date Last Found: 1/14/2010 CardstonDescription This is one of four caches that show some of the amazing scenery near or have a great view of Cardston. Each cache looks in a different direction. This one looks South(ish), where you can see, on a clear day, the mountains in BC and Montana, including Chief Mountain. This cache is unfortunately a nano without a pencil, so please bring one of your own. There is a parking lot nearby, so please do not park on the highway. As a bonus, inside the cache is a partial coordinate to a separate multi-cache we have placed in the area. Finding all four “Grand View” caches will give you the ability to find “Grand View – Bonus”. PLANNING
I wanted to clear this set of 5 caches off my list, but was waiting for the snow to melt. Today seemed like a good day to try this. I downloaded the cache information to my Garmin nuvi and made a set of notes in my small notebook that gave the coordinates as well as the size of the cache. I took my iPhone with me in case I needed a description or any additional information. This time I was determined to take a few more pictures as well as keep time of when I arrived at each location and how long it took me to find the cache.
OUTCOME
This was my second search. It took me 7 minutes to drive from the first search to this one and to get ready to leave the truck. I parked the truck across the road from the cache site and walked to the site. There were only a couple of possible locations and I quickly determined that the white structure was the location. A glance behind the sign was all it took to spot the white nano stuck to the back of the "Golf Course" sign. I grabbed the nano and returned to the truck to sign the log book. I then put the nano back in its place, took a couple of pictures and returned to the truck to head out to the next cache in this series. I originally left the truck at 12:05 PM, found the container at 12:09 and arrived back at the truck ready to move on at 12:18. That is, it took 4 minutes to find the cache and another 9 minutes to sign the logbook and take a few photos. Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
