IDENTIFICATION
GC20H56 Grand View - West N 49° 11.652 W 113° 17.899Difficulty 1; Terrain 1.5; size regular Creator: Janet and Jim Date First Hidden: 11/1/2009 Date Last Found: 1/14/2010 CardstonDescription This is one of four caches that show some of the amazing scenery near or have a great view of Cardston. Each cache looks in a different direction. This one looks West, and you can see downtown, as well as the West hill and even all the way North toward Fort Macleod. You are looking for a small LNL type container covered in camo tape to hide it better. Please do not park in the driveway south of the cache as this is private property. You can park on the side of the road. In the winter please try not to leave a trail of footprints directly to the cache as it may get muggled. As a bonus, inside the cache is a partial coordinate to a separate multi-cache we have placed in the area. Finding all four “Grand View” caches will give you the ability to find “Grand View – Bonus”. PLANNING
I wanted to clear this set of 5 caches off my list, but was waiting for the snow to melt. Today seemed like a good day to try this. I downloaded the cache information to my Garmin nuvi and made a set of notes in my small notebook that gave the coordinates as well as the size of the cache. I took my iPhone with me in case I needed a description or any additional information. This time I was determined to take a few more pictures as well as keep time of when I arrived at each location and how long it took me to find the cache.
OUTCOME
This was my first search. I left Tim Hortons in Lethbridge at 10:45 am and arrived at the cache site at 11:46 am. I found the container at 11:51 and arrived back at the truck at 11:58. That is, it took 5 minutes to find the cache and another 7 minutes to sign the logbook and take a few photos. Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
The snow has left and the cache is in fine shape. TNLNSL. TFTC. I am looking forward to the complete package of 5 caches. Here are a few photos:
