PLANNING
I have been aware of this new Lethbridge cache for a few days. I needed a break from preparing these web pages for yesterday's caching and although it was windy I decided to search this one out. I also wanted to try keeping better track of the event. I underestimated the wind. It was gusting to 70 kph and where I was on the edge of the coulee I would guess it was much higher. I truly had difficulty standing at times, and that was even when I braced myself with my feet far apart and me leaning into the wind.
OUTCOME
This was my only search of the day. Fortunately a quick find. It was incredibly windy. Many of the street intersections had limited visibility due to blowing sand. While on the way to the cache I was almost blown off the ridge. I had a lot of difficulty signing the logbook - I doubt if anyone will be able to read my entry as I could not hold the pen steady. I did manage to hold onto the container with one hand while taking a photo with the other. I parked the truck at the corner of 8 St N and Stafford Ave (right across from a small park). I left the truck at 10:58 am and walked down a bicycle path to a red shale path at the bottom of the gulley. I headed down this path until my GPS unit indicated I was almost opposite the cache and then I found another path up a ridge to the top on the north side of the gulley where I quickly spotted the container (11:11 am). I signed the logbook and put the container back under a bush and returned the way I came. I was back at the truck at 11:22 am.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
Great collection in the stash. Although I had genuine difficulty standing, and even more signing the logbook in the wind, the cache was secure in its location. TNLN. TFTC. Another excellent contribution to the Lethbridge coulee caches.
Here are a few photos:

path down the ridgeI am now 1/1 for today. My attention to detail (times of intermediate activities, deliberate taking of photos along the way) seemed to work.
