PLANNING
I had to take the Camry in to the High River dealer for factory recall maintenance. Since I was in the area I thought I would try to find a few caches in the townsite. I was not sure how much time I would have so I restricted myself to 5 sites. My original idea was to do a little geocache searching after the car is ready. This was the first time I have used the new Garmin nuvi since it was replaced earlier this week. I also took advantage of this trip to try the BT-335 data logger and see if I could obtain a map of my route from Lethbridge.
OUTCOME
The first thing I noticed as I began driving was a different "voice" on the Garmin. Also the directions used street names rather than simply "turn left" or "turn right". Finally, the machine now interpreted "Dr" as "Drive" rather than "Doctor". I am not sure if I have the latest version of the map - I am waiting to hear from Garmin about this.
I left a little earlier (7:10 am) in the hope of possibly searching for one or two caches before I turned the car in. When I arrived in High River I decided to go by the first cache on my list (GC2111E - Hot Dog) as I realized I should be able to walk to this one while they are working on the car. This was the second cache on my list, and my first attempt of the day.
The container was not a micro, which made finding it much easier. I prefer caches that are well enough hidden to not be muggled, but not so difficult that they border on impossible. Although the cache was right downtown, it was on the side of the caboose hidden from general view so one could search without being too conspicuous.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
Cabooses scare me. But this one wasn't too bad. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Few muggles early in the morning.
Here are a few photos:

The Garmin performed perfectly. I will see if I can obtain a map of the trip from the BT-335 later. I also want to see if I can geotag these photos. Later.
I am 1/1 for today.
