IDENTIFICATION
GC1YF5G Galt Coal Mine No. 6 N 49° 44.438 W 112° 49.792Difficulty 1; Terrain 1.5; size micro. Creator: smartee Date First Hidden: 9/9/2010 Date Last Found: 2/15/2010 LethbridgeDescription Now you know what those remains are. Galt Mine No.6 began producing in 1908 then abandoned in 1935. The area was then fenced to keep people out. Good thing. In 1937 No. 6 shaft suddenly collapsed creating a 26 meter crater. This and others were filled and topped up but nevertheless about 1950 No. 5 shaft (an air vent) sank over 30 meters. Don't forget tunnels remain under this area and sink holes have shown up over the years. Hence the sign. Sign the logbook but don't go exploring.

PLANNING
While reviewing a few DNFs in the Lethbridge area a few days ago I noticed that this cache had recently been found a few times. I decided to combine a quick search using my iPhone with some shopping.
OUTCOME
This was a very quick find. I simply walked up to the area and immediately spotted it. I cannot imagine how I missed this the first time.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
