PLANNING
I have been aware of this cache since it was first placed, but then winter arrived and I put it on hold. However the last few days have been quite pleasant and when I looked up the cache website I noticed that it had been found by three different groups in the last week. The fresh snow during the last couple of days triggered the idea of skiing to the cache site. This would actually be more direct as I would be able to ski in a more or less direct line across Park Lake.
OUTCOME
The temperature was about 0 C, with no wind and a sunny sky. There was an even covering of about 6" of fresh snow which made the idea of cross-country skiing an excellent one. I had no difficulty arriving at the bench where I took off my skis and looked around for the cache. This only took a few minutes as the cache was not covered by snow.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
A beautiful sunny day with no wind. This search was a first for me. I put on my cross-country skis and went across the lake. I took off the skis at a conveniently placed bench and went searching in the fresh snow but it was a quick find as the container was visible beside a snow patch. TN, Left a pin and a ball, SL. Thanks for setting this cache up in the winter months.
