Maths Recovery (NSW) - early 1990's

Key features of MR:

1. Intensive, individualized teaching of low-attaining 6-8 year old children

2. An extensive professional development course to prepare the specialist teachers.

3. On going collegial and leader support for these teachers.

4. Use of a strong underpinning theory of young children's mathematical learning.

5. Use of a learning framework to guide assessment and teaching.

6. Use of an especially developed instructional approach

7. Children are taught 30 minutes daily, for 4-5 days each week.
