A. Morning Musings

5:10 am The number one item for today is the Channon market. It was rained out in January. The forecast is for showers so we will make our decision about 7:00 am when it is light outside.

I continue to have a look at the loose sheets of notes that I brought with me. By either incorporating them into this web site, or by discarding them, I hope to lighten my load for the return trip to Lethbridge.

Morning is a time for musing and not necessarily for being productive. One of the sheets of paper had a 6-point summary of an outline of a presentation I gave at Southern Cross University in 2000 on the role of the Web in Learning:

  1. Google
  2. Other sources
    1. Library
    2. Bookstore
    3. Newspapers
    4. Journals/magazines.
  3. Yellow highlighting
  4. Seven plus or minus two (chunking)
  5. Structure
    1. List
    2. Table
    3. Hierarchy
    4. Web
  6. Triangulation 6:00 am
B. Plan

Chores: none

Exercise: Exercise & Beach walk.

Mathematics: Continue reading "Everything and More".

Education: Frank McCourt's "Teacher Man"

C. Actual

4:50 PM

We are back from the Channon Markets where we bought a couple of plates to round out set to 4 as well as a pair of coffee mugs for two friends who will be joining us shortly. We had a delightful meal at Pogel's Wood in Federal.

Organic donuts
Byron candles
Opals
Moi

As we left the Channon, we spotted a white-headed pigeon on an overhead wire. A check of the identification book indicated it had to be a "White-headed Pigeon" (lifer #107). Makes sense. We also spotted a brown raptor at Skennars Head but were not able to make a positve identification.

I have completed reading "Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt. The last section picked up the pace a bit and actually hinted at some educational issues. 5:20 PM

8:30 PM Here are two images from the Richmond river this evening:

... and this unusual shot:

9:30 PM Here are scans of the pages that illustrate earlier attempts at making notes:

1. Template for an Internet session. This was a form I designed based on the idea of having a log for each Internet session. Basically this never really got off the ground. I found it got in the way as I was usually in a hurry to get on with the session. Good in theory, but not in practice - at least for me.

2. These are some notes for a panel on Education and the Web. Basically it is a series of 8 points, separated by horizontal lines (the last point is in the bottom right corner). The points are simply a reminder of the essential idea - I will elaborate when actually making the presentation.

3. These are a few jottings to myself. 10:30 PM
