A. Morning Musings

6:30 am Monday is a good time to prepare for the week. I will be leaving in a couple of hours for Lismore and a morning session at the uni on a high-speed ethernet connection. I hope to complete the following activities while there:

  • pick up key to the office from security.
  • check for Windows and Norton updates.
  • upload web sites to server.
  • Literature: Locate Coleridge's "Kubla Khan" on the Web & read it.
  • Birds: Complete updating website for this visit to Australia.
  • Technology: Post a message to my blog on "Self-directed Learning and the Web".
  • Technology: Complete review of digital cameras and camcorders.
  • Mathematics: Google: statistics, software, accuracy, "rounding error", chaos.
  • Mathematics: Google "mathematical chaos", prediction, "physical systems".
  • Mathematics: Google "public key cryptography".
  • Philosophy: Locate information on "The Universe and the Teacup" by K. C. Cole.
  • Technology: Arrange to purchase digital camera.

That should give me a nice sense of closure as that will remove 9 items from my February ToDos list.

C. Actual

7:15 am I have had a pleasant cuppa while reviewing my ToDos lists and making a few adjustments to a couple of web pages (e.g. adding a Philosophy link to the Home page). There is a cool breeze coming through the unit this morning which is very refreshing. However there is a dark cloud to the south so we may be in for a few showers.

9:00 am I am at the uni and have the key to my office. A good start.

9:45 am I have checked Windows Update (none) and Norton Antivirus (one update). I have also uploaded all of my websites and did a little debugging of invalid links. Things appear okay now. I am about to begin updating my Birds web pages.

10:35 am My Australian bird site is now up to date. Each web page contains at least 4 links to web sites that contain photographs of the bird in question. I will begin adding images that I have taken as well, but this will be pretty sparse until I purchase a better digital camera with a good zoom capability.

10:35 am Now to focus on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 digital camera.

11:50 am I have reviewed the reviews and am committed to the decision.

2:55 PM Back in Ballina. A check of my ToDos list shows that I have completed 8 items today, leaving another 14 remaining for this month. It has been a blend of major tasks (bird web site, digital cameras) and minor tasks (google searches, amazon searches) but the result is a shorter list of To Dos, which is a good feeling.
