Home Page
Background
This is a personal web site of one person's activities while geocaching. I have created this web site for my own enjoyment. It provides a record of the planning that I did before I left the house as well as a record of what happened in the field. This often includes photos of particularly clever methods of disguising the cache.
When logging my "finds" on the geocaching.com web site I have been careful to avoid saying anything or providing any visual clues than might help others find the cache.
However this web site is different. It is intended to provide a record that I can refer to any time if I want to refresh my memory of a particularly enjoyable, or frustrating, event. Often the frustration is aimed at myself for forgetting to bring something like a pencil or pair of tweezers or a flashlight or long pants or ... Sometimes there is bemusement as I fail to recognize a cache even when I am looking at it, or on occasion even when I am holding it.
Navigation
Navigation consists of a link at the bottom of this page to another page containing a series of monthly calendars. The days when I went geocaching are highlighted with a green background. This cell will also contain a link to a monthly index page that identifies all of the geocaching activities for that month.
The monthly index contains two links for each geocache.
- The GC link will display the geocaching.com web site for that cache. If you are not a registered member of geocaching.com the link will still work, but some information (e.g. coordinate location, maps) will be missing.
- The Nosweat6060 Log link will display my notes describing my efforts at trying to find this cache. If this link has a yellow (i.e. warning) background, then there are photos or descriptive information that will "spoil" this cache for those who have not yet visited it.
- If you are a geocacher, and if you have any intention of finding this cache, then DO NOT click on any link with a yellow background. As we all know, much of the enjoyment comes from having to figure out where it is hidden. I do not want to spoil this for you!
- On the other hand if you are not yet a geocacher and you want to get a sense of the process, then you may find some value in browsing some of the activities.
Needless to say, this has been an enjoyable and beneficial activity for me. It has got me outside and into many areas that I would never have seen if it were not for the challenge of finding the cache. I have met many fellow geocachers and have enjoyed a cup of coffee and a chat with some and hope to have more C&C with others in the days ahead.
A very special thanks is extended to TeamDJM of Lethbridge who first introduced me to this activity, took me along on a couple of trips to see what was involved, and answered my questions with patience.
