12:30 PM Geocaching
Early this morning I put the coordinates into my GPS unit for 4 geocaches in south Lethbridge. Two of these were puzzle caches, one was an Earth cache and one was a normal cache.
I successfully solved both of the puzzles, but was unable to find the container for one of these. The other two were straight-forward finds.
- GC2XE8C - Prairie Winds - The Galt (Hospital/Museum)
This was a puzzle cache. I had to go to the cache coordinates and answer 2 questions based on the information that was available on some bricks that identified past donors. I then put these coordinates into my Montana 600 unit and walked to the cache location where I quickly found the container.
- GC2XNRR - Downtown Bus Depot. CARL3
- GC2X762 - Quit Slumping! - CARL3
This was a quick park and grab behind the bus depot. It was a short drive from the first cache. One can see that the sun is just beginning to rise above the horizon.
This was the Earth cache. I had to walk about half a kilometer along a good path to the coordinate location where I obtained the information to answer a few questions and email the cache owner.
This was the second puzzle cache. I went to the posted coordinates and found the information to determine the coordinates for the container. I then drove home to check my answer with the web site, and then returned to the same area to look for the container. I spent at least 30 minutes trying to find it without success. I noticed that a number of other people were also having trouble finding this cache.
Thus I found 3 out of 4 caches and raised my global total to 1,052.
9:00 PM History
I have begun reading "The Last Stand" by Nathaniel Philbrick. This is one of the books I bought while visiting the site of the Battle of the Little Bighorn
