10:00 am Puzzles
I began the morning with the same combination as yesterday - a mix of crosswords and Go.
I only played one game of Go but I managed to win it, keeping me at level 8. I must really concentrate or I quickly find myself in a losing position.
11:00 am Technology
I am continuing to Read "The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood" by James Gleick. Although the topic might appear to by dry, Gleick has a way of writing to make it flow.
I have finished chapter 4 on Charles Babbage and Ada Lovelace. While I was familiar with their contributions Gleick provided a much fuller description of their efforts. Time well spent.
2:00 PM Literature
The 3 books that I ordered last week from amazon.ca have arrived. Here are the titles:
- "Notes from Underground" (1994) by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
- I have read most of Dostoevsky but have missed this one.
- "Alone in the Classroom" (2011) by Elizabeth Hay.
- I enjoyed her previous novel , "Late Nights on Air" and am looking forward to this one.
- "The Help" (2009) by Kathryn Stockett.
- The reviews of this are excellent and I needed one more to have free shipping.
Now to sit back and have a few laughs while reading "Come, Thou Tortoise" by Jessica Grant.
