Another good weather day. Perfect for seeing the city. I think I will walk up to Mount Royal park. That will give me an opportunity to see if there are many birds in the area as well as do a little geocaching and photography.
1:20 PM Geocaching
I am back from a very successful geocaching trip to Mount Royal. I found 6 out of 6 geocaches with the 7th not attempted due to a very large reception of muggles near the cache site. The search for the 6 was neat as I was in the woods all the time with no sense of being in a large city. I had no idea there were so many trails, and so much wilderness, in the park. Here are the details of the finds:
- GC1X5H4 Where's My Fez
- 10:06 am This was my first find of the morning. Already I was in deep woods.
- GCWVPE Le toit rouge
- 10:20 am This is a great way to spend the morning.
- GC1F2G3 Avec les pics
- 10:55 am I am still in the forest, and loving it.
- GCQECG Squirrel Village
- 11:15 am The hint made this an easy find.
- GC74AB House On Fire
- 11:45 am The hint was very useful as this was rough terrain.
- GCXRAK Cache hospitalière #6: Hôpital général de Montréal
- 12:20 PM My 6th find of the morning. I forgot to put the coordinates for this one in my GPS and thus had to backtrack in order to make the find.
This brought my global total to 975, and my Quebec total to 8.
9:30 PM
We had a superb Indian meal at a restaurant called Le Taj just around the corner from the hotel. We both had a tandoori platter which included chicken, salmon, and lamb. The desert was a special ice cream made with mango, almond and pistachio which was excellent.
Then we found a small grocery across the street which sold wine - very civilized. Most of the bottles were of the one Litre size, which presented no problem. I picked a nice red from Argentina and we headed back to the hotel to watch Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final between Boston and Vancouver. Vancouver won the first game 1-0 with a goal with only 18 seconds left in regular time.
We had the wine plus some brie and crackers and some green grapes. However we fell asleep with the score 2-1 for Boston at the end of the second period.
[Addendum] Vancouver won 3-2 in overtime! They scored the winning goal only 11 seconds into the overtime session and now lead the besst of seven series, 2 games to none. But the next two games are in Boston.
