Mother's Day. Moms are indeed special. I am fortunate to have a great one. And am doubly fortunate to be married to another great one. Words do not capture the feeling. But musing is a good start.

I cannot believe how relaxed I am now that I have taken Parallels off my Mac and that I will soon buy a small PC laptop to run a few PC-only software programs for my Model Train activities and possibly for some of my geocaching activities.

Now to sit back and enjoy a little reading.

8:00 am Literature

I have finished reading "Irma Voth". Powerful.

Toews

Maybe now I will begin reading "Three Cups of Tea".

11:15 am Technology

I have just completed placing an online order for a new Inspiron 17R laptop computer. It should arrive in 3 days!

I also have heard back from Albion Software (on a Sunday morning that is also a special holiday - Mother's Day) and will receive a discount for the latest Ship It! version CD.

I will have the computer support for my model trains layout much sooner than I was expecting. This online shopping is amazing. Pretty close to instant gratification.

3:00 PM Literature

Mortenson

I have begun "Three Cups of Tea". The preliminary chapters describe the author's background and his interest in climbing. Enjoyable reading.

The book reminds me of "Mountains Beyond Mountains" by Tracy Kidder which chronicles the activities of another American, Dr. Paul Farmer, who has devoted his life to helping provide health care in Haiti.

9:45 PM Philosophy

Gita

I have now read about 180 pages (out of a total of 1800) of the Bhagavad Gita. I am enjoying this. It is a fascinating read. I am still in the middle of chapter 2 but I now have a good idea of the Hindu concept of soul. The book is impressive literature, particularly as it is one of the oldest manuscripts in existence. The commentary at the end of each verse is fantastic.
