There is light snow falling at the moment (again). The temperature is -3 C, with a high predicted of 0 C.

Notice how the warmth of the road is no longer able to melt the snowfall.

Yesterday I made a comment about the importance of page numbers, or something analogous, for giving one a sense of context while reading a book. The above early morning weather report performs a similar role for reader(s) of this web site who live a long distance away and whose seasons are the opposite of ours.

There has been more snow overnight, and the temperatures are remaining well below normal. This can't be good for the early birds who came north expecting spring/summer.

I have 6 books on the go at the moment:

Definitely enough to keep me busy until the snow melts.

I now know how to obtain an image of the cover of an ebook. But only sometimes. Covers exist for the ebooks from Kindle (aka amazon.com). However the ebooks from the Apple iStore do not have covers, although there is a thumbnail image that appears on the virtual bookshelf. But this image does not appear in the actual file when one "opens" the book.

Since there is no cover for my ebook version of "The Picture of Dorian Gray" I tried typing the title into a google image search together with the words book cover. What a fantastic collection of alternatives! I then copied the following, which is drab but is less likely to convey a sense of the novel.

I have spent a very enjoyable hour in front of the fireplace this morning while reading this novel. I am very glad to have finally started reading this.

Here is a photo of our Japanese lantern nestled among the juniper shrubs in our back yard:

I have finished reading "The Picture of Dorian Gray". It found it a great story - not at all what I was expecting. It is much more a gothic horror story than a picture of Victorian England. This is the first novel in ebook form that I have read, and I must admit that I found the ebook experience very positive. I am looking forward to many more books in this format.
