6:30 am tag: Morning Musings

We have snow.

This looks like a good day to stay home and play with the iPad.

8:50 am tag: Birding

We saw our first Red-winged Blackbird this morning. And a few minutes later we saw a few Common Grackles. Both birds are firsts for 2011.

Much of the afternoon has been spent on the iPad. I have been familiarizing myself with the iBird Pro HD app that I purchased last night.

While doing that I discovered another app called BirdsEye Lite for $1.99 which tries to indicate which birds have been seen near your present location and when/where was the last time a particular bird that you are hoping to see was spotted. This software makes use of the eBird database maintained at Cornell.

I then joined eBird so that I might indicate the birds I have seen and thus help others in return for the way they are helping me.
