Comment:This is a continuation of my Session 1 activities. Train 601 arrived at Black Diamond, where it setout 1 empty coal car and picked up 3 loaded coal cars. The train then moved to Jasper where it setout 1 boxcar. This completed the operating run for Train 601.

Session 1d: Train #601 arrives at Black Diamond

Train 601 on the outer mainline

CN 7846 dropped all cars on the mainline before heading into the Black Diamond Yard where it set out CCX 0002 (empty) and then performed an end-around maneuver to pick up 3 cars loaded with coal.

CN 7847 then left Black Diamond for Jasper. After travelling 4 loops on the outer mainline (speed 10), switch #6 near Distillery Row was opened and the train travelled over the wooden trestle and into the Jasper Yard. It dropped off the caboose and then backed into the Yard and set out CN 473966 (loaded with clothing) at the 36th St Warehouse.

Comment:

I removed CN 475822 (boxcar) from service as it continues to derail. It clearly needs some form of maintenance.

Switch #5 in the Jasper Yard did not respond to its electrical signal. This is likely a loose wire problem.

But in general it was a successful operating run with a nice end-around maneuver in Black Diamond.

The Jasper Yard is now a bit congested. I will see if this interferes with anything before Train 600 is due to leave.

I want to try blocking the cars on the next train that has some switching activity. Thus the first few cars would be setouts at town 1, then cars for town 2, and so on.
