PLANNING

This is my second attempt at finding a geocache.

I used the www.geocache.com website to identify some geocaches near where we live. It indicated 4 sites in Nicholas Sheran park, only a short walk away.

I am still learning to use the Garmin nuvi 850 GPS unit that I bought earlier this month. The unit is primarily designed for automobile use, but I think I should be able to use it for geocaching as well.

Downloading the site from the web site to the Garmin turned out to be very easy (using the MyGarmin website). A good start.

OUTCOME

After failing to find the cache at NS West #2 (GC16ZFP), I moved on to the second one on my list.

I had no trouble finding the location using my Garmin. This time I found the cache! It was a small dark green container attached to a tree.

When I returned home, I logged this find on the geocache website.

I decided to return tomorrow with my camera.

This cache contained an Ontario geocoin (#PCXV7D). When I returned home I was able to visit the geocache website and update the geocoin's location. This coin began its journey in Calgary in 2006 and has only been found 8 times so far. I left it there as I am still too new to all of this to take it without leaving something of equal value.
