CBC Headline: Canadian soldier killed by roadside bomb in Afghanistan

A Canadian soldier was killed and two others wounded in a roadside bombing attack in Afghanistan about 40 kilometres north of Kandahar on Monday. Caswell is the 57th Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan since 2002. This continues with no let up in sight.

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): Labor faces 'formidable' challenge to win: Howard

LABOR faced a "very formidable" challenge to win the 17 seats needed to unseat the Government, John Howard has told Coalition MPs. Following the bright economic news from last week - and with several opinion polls suggesting the Government is closing the gap on Labor - the Prime Minister offered his most upbeat assessment of the Coalition's prospects for months.
