A. Morning Musings

6:15 am It is +7 C with a high forecast of +14 C.

Here are the news.

CBC Headline: Alfredsson Sends Senators To Cup Final

Captain Daniel Alfredsson scored 9:32 into overtime as the visiting Senators captured the NHL's Eastern Conference title with a 3-2 victory Saturday in Game 5 of their series against the top-ranked Buffalo Sabres. It must be a very quiet day in the newsroom when a hockey score makes the top headline.

Canadian Headline: see above

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): Hicks Taken To Adelaide Jail

Confessed terrorist supporter and Guantanamo Bay inmate David Hicks has arrived at Adelaide's Yatala prison to serve the rest of his nine-month sentence, after his flight landed earlier this morning. It is fascinating to me that a young man who's claim to fame is that he attended a terrorist camp becomes a regular headline story.

B. Actual/Notes

6:55 am The coffee is ready. I will begin the day with a cuppa and a little Dostoevsky. That feels right this morning. I am still having difficulty realizing that this is the first long weekend in May and that all the eager campers are out. It is a bit cool for a tent at the moment but the predicted rain has failed to materialize which is a good thing for them.
