A. Morning Musings

6:30 am It is +5 C with a high forecast of +16 C. Clear sky. Now for some sunshine and a little warmth.

Here are the news.

CBC Headline: 115 Feared Dead In Crash Of Kenya Airways Plane

The crash occurred shortly after takeoff from the Cameroons. Few details are available at the moment. The last crash involving this airline was in 2000. I am surprised at how few crashes occur among small third-world airlines.

Canadian Headline: 3 Crew members Of Sunken Ferry Fired

The firings were a result of a Ferries report this past March that concluded human error was to blame for the March 2006 sinking, which claimed the lives of two people. This seems appropriate to me as the report indicates that these individuals were clearly negligent in their duties.

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): Costello To Deliver Tax Cuts For All

Tuesday's budget is predicted to have tax cuts for everyone as Peter Costello distributes the proceeds of stronger growth, lower inflation and a healthy surplus. This is a great lead-up to the federal election later this year.

B. Actual/Notes

6:30 am I was pleased with the progress I made yesterday converting LP records to MP3 format. I can now see light at the end of this tunnel. There is still about another 10 - 15 hours to go, but that is manageable. The next item is to clear off the birding trips from our Mexico trip. The birding is working well in general - I hope I can keep up the current level of activity on this. I want to increase the time I am spending reading Literature. Then I will need to face model trains and mathematics.
