Birding Notes

4:20 PM We left for Henderson Lake on the south side of Lethbridge about 8:00 am to look for waterfowl. Unfortunately, although I brought my camera I forgot that I had taken the battery out to recharge it. Result: no photos. After a very interesting morning we returned home to pick up the battery and then headed out again, this time east to Pitcher Butte and then on to Park Lake and Lake Kehoe.

Western Grebes

Again

Red-breasted Merganser (their status is rare to uncommon for southern Alberta)

American Avocet

Sharp-shinned Hawk

Here is a table summarizing the day's observations.

SUMMARY of the session: Much of the time was spent looking at Yellow-rumped Warblers. I think we must have watched over 20 of them. We saw 20 different birds, 10 for the first time this year, and 7 were lifers. Fantastic!
