Birding Notes

2:30 PM Earlier this morning we went for a walk along the green strip north of our house. We saw a woodpecker but were unable to clearly identify it so I decided I would try again with my camera and binoculars and see if I could have better luck. Nope. It seems to have moved - birds do that. But I also went by Nicholas Sheran park and noticed two new waterfowl: a Ring-necked Duck and a pair of Horned Grebes.

Here is a photo of Nicholas Sheran park, looking at the area where the ducks were seen:

Here is a photo of a pair of Ring-necked Ducks, a pair of Mallards, and a Redhead.

Here is an image of the pair of Horned Grebes:

Here is the Red-breasted Nuthatch on the side of a Cottonwood tree.

And here is the Slate-colored Junco, scratching around under a spruce tree.

Here is a table summarizing the day's observations.

SUMMARY of the session: Not an overly long list, but it was exciting as it included two new lifers. (The ID#s will be added later, after I complete cataloging the birds from our trip to Mexico.
