A. Morning Musings

7:20 am We are back from a 3 week holiday in Mexico. However there is a problem with our internet connection at the moment. We have arranged for a technician to come out tomorrow and get us back online. In the meantime there is no internet access so I am unable to update various files with current information.

Now to slowly get my head and body around getting back to a normal routine. My early morning coffee tastes good. A promising way to begin the day.

I also need to identify a number of tasks that need to be attended to:

  • we need some groceries!
  • transfer images from Epson P3000 photo storage device to iPhoto
  • attach turntable to MacBook Pro
  • search Web for bird sites that mention migration sightings
  • buy 2 pair of binoculars (Bushnell Legacy WP 10x50)
  • search Web for attachments for saving images using spotting scopes
  • look for Lonely Planet Australia book at Chapters
  • look for Jeffrey Deaver books at Chapters
  • look for "The Shorebird Guide" at Chapters
  • begin making notes on the Mayan history & culture

My weight is currently at 196, which is less than I thought it might be following our holiday. I only gained 4 pounds which is easily attributable to wine/beer. The meals were superb and having wine with every dinner was a bit indulgent, but it is now time to return to a strict regime until I am back to my original goal of 180. This will involve keeping tight control of both my diet and my exercise using the FitDay software.

C. Actual/Note

6:00 PM I am slowly getting my routine back in order. The great news was that Telus was able to visit our home this afternoon and replace the modem. It only took a few minutes and we were back on the Internet.

I also visited the local Chapters store and compared the Lonely Planet and Fodor's guides for Australia. I definitely prefer Lonely Planet. Now to order them online to obtain the 30% discount. I also noticed the Jeffrey Deavers murder mystery books, but when I came home and checked for them on the Web, I was surprised to see that they were not available. I will go back to the store tomorrow and buy them. I forgot to look for bird books but will do that tomorrow.

8:35 PM I have been surfing for the last two hours looking for information on digiscoping (a new word for me: it means using a digital camera with a spotting scope).

Here are three websites that I hope to return to tomorrow:
