Birding Notes

7:45 PM May 10 I have reviewed and labelled my iPhotos for February 21. This entry will chronicle the birdwatching activities.

On our early morning drive to Uxmal we noticed a Belted Kingfisher, a Snowy Egret, a Frigate Bird and a Black-necked Stilt.

Once we arrrived at the Club Med we saw a Great Kiskadee, a Tropical Peewee and a Turquoise-browed Motmot.

While visiting the Mayan ruins, and with my camera at the ready, we saw a Couch's Kingbird, a Clay-colored Thrush, and a woodpecker.

Here is a photo of the woodpecker:

I will need a Mexican field guide to identify this more precisely.

We saw the following bird later that afternoon after we had returned to the Club Med. It was flitting around in a brush pile near the resort.

Here is a second photo of the same bird a few minutes later:

Perky little fella! I have no idea what it is called at the moment.

Here is a table summarizing the day's observations.
