May 16, 2005 Visit to Daisy Hill Forest Park near Brisbane.
This was our third try at visiting this park. The primary goal was to see some koalas in the wild. We did see two in the visitor center, but our trip along Tree Discovery Trail failed to spot any in the trees. We did spend a very enjoyable hour doing some birdwatching though. The highlight was the Spotted Pardalote. We also saw a Grey Fantail [11:20], a White-throated TreeCreeper [11:50], the Spotted Pardalote [11:52] and an Eastern Yellow Robin [12:10]. This brought our total for this 4-month trip to Australia to 81. It is becoming more difficult to find "new" birds, but it is also more exciting when we do spot one. We also noticed a number of Magpies, Australian Ravens, Noisy Minors and Laughing Kookaburras.
