EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING TODAY
Universities and colleges throughout North America are continuing to enrich the learning process by combining experiential forms of education traditional classroom lecture. The most prevalent example at the University of Lethbridge is that of Management Co-operative Education, Arts & Science Cooperative Education, Centre for Management Solutions, Applied Study, which bridge the gap between students that are acquiring theory in the classroom and employers who can provide them with the practical aspects of their chosen field of study.
Since the mid 1970's, a number of experiential learning associations have been created. Their mandate is to advance the movement by enhancing both the educator's and learner's understanding of the concept. They do this by publishing journals and designing conferences and seminars that will bring those knowledgeable in this field of study together with those wanting to learn more. Experiential learning philosophy has and will continue to gain recognition in all facets of our personal and professional lives whether from the point of learner, student, educator, employee, or employer.
