| The Society for Canadian Dance Studies is mandated to:
- Encourage, promote, discuss and publish research and writing in Canadian dance studies;
- Create a record of Canadian dance with academic precision in an accessible writing style;
- Promote the teaching of dance studies in post-secondary dance programs, private dance schools and public schools of all levels;
- Provide a forum for the discussion of issues and topics surrounding Canadian dance studies;
- Raise the profile of Canadian dance studies within academic institutions and funding bodies;
- Take an active role in the preservation of Canadian dance history.
