TIME-LAPSE MOVIES-- Movies of Belcher Glacier's calving front and supraglacial drainage development over the 2007 melt season are now available. Also available is a movie of sea ice concentrations around Devon, summer 2007 (open with WMP). AVHRR NOAA Polar Satellite imagery provided courtesy of Environment Canada.

NEW PERSONNEL-- Wendy Clavano and Sam Pimentel are the project's newest postdoctoral appointments, working with Martin Sharp (UAlberta) and Gwenn Flowers (SFU), respectively. Josh Padolsky (Trent U) and Angus Duncan (St. Andrew's) will begin MSc research this Sep. under the joint supervision of Sarah Boon (ULeth) and Martin Sharp. Tyler Sylvestre (UOttawa) will begin an MSc this Sep. under the supervision of Luke Copland (UOttawa).

REAL-TIME MET DATA-- Now available from an AWS installed in spring 2007 on the Devon Ice Cap summit.

GLACIODYN PRESENTATION CGU-CMOS-AMS--Lev Tarasov (MemorialU) presented a synopsis of the Canadian GLACIODYN project at the CMOS-CGU-AMS Joint Annual Meeting in St. John's, Newfoundland.

April 2007

GLACIODYN PRESENTATION RESOLUTE BAY--Luke Copland (UOttawa) visited Qamartalik K-12 School in Resolute Bay, Nunavut in mid-May to discuss the project with students and teachers.

ESA PROPOSAL APPROVED--The ESA approved our proposal for provision of ERS and EnviSat SAR data for the Belcher Glacier project. Data will be used to map seasonal melt evolution, drainage system development, iceberg calving and fjord sea ice conditions at the Belcher Glacier over the two IPY seasons.

March 2007

GLACIODYN FUNDING--Canada's Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) awarded the Canadian GLACIODYN project $705,579 in research funding over three years (2006-2009).

PI FEATURED ON NSERC PAGE--PI Dr. Martin Sharp was featured on the NSERC webpage discussing his research and the Glaciodyn project.

GLACIODYN PRESENTATION NSERC--PI Martin Sharp presented the research program at an NSERC funding announcement for IPY.
