  1. Use Maple to verify that, for any tex2html_wrap_inline23 , the particle-in-a-box wavefunctions tex2html_wrap_inline25 and tex2html_wrap_inline27 are orthogonal.

    Hint: You will have to tell Maple that n and m are integers.

  2. Verify the Heisenberg uncertainty principle for the particle in a box for n=2.

    Note: In Maple, tex2html_wrap_inline35 is typed diff(f,x$i). Maple will need to know that L and tex2html_wrap_inline39 are positive.

  3. Calculate tex2html_wrap_inline41 and tex2html_wrap_inline43 for the particle in a box for n=1.

    Note: These two expressions are different because quantum-mechanical operators do not commute:
