Psychology and Neuroscience Club Constitution

 

  1. Name of Club

Psychology and Neuroscience Club (PANiC)

  1. Mission Statement

The club exists to provide information for, encourage communication amongst, and help forge relationships between students, faculty and members of the community interested in the fields of psychology and neuroscience.

  1. Club Membership/Voting Members

Club membership is open to all students attending the University of Lethbridge, all faculty and staff at the University of Lethbridge and all people living in Southern Alberta.  A person is awarded membership upon paying the membership fee of $5.  Once paid, the individual is added to the membership list and has voting rights on all club issues.

  1. The Students’ Union

PANiC will abide to the Students’ Union Bylaws and policies unless otherwise approved by the General Assembly (GA). We understand that the club may be de-ratified if a bylaw is contravened without GA approval.

  1. Executive Positions and Duties

Duties of Executive Council:

-Plan activities and inform students of these events and meetings.

-Encourage input from students.

-Take care of administrative and financial duties.

-Operate so as to not violate any guidelines set by the University of Lethbridge.

-Maintain communication with the Students’ Union and university community.

-Develop a constitution that the club can uphold and members can vote on.

President:

-Run executive meeting.

-Co-facilitate club events with Vice President.

-Co-responsible for finances.

-Liaison with the faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience.

 

Vice President:

-Co-facilitate club events with President.

-Liaison with community.

-Monthly Report prepared for Students’ Union.

Treasurer:

-Manages finances.

-Bookkeeping duties (i.e. fees and expenses)

Secretary:

-Keep minutes of the executive meetings.

-Manage e-mail account.

Public Relations Officer:

-Event Advertisement via following mediums: Student newspaper, on-campus screen-savers, posters, composing emails to students/faculty and the notice board.

-Liaison with Web Site Administrator

Web Site Administrator (Appointed Position):

-Maintain club website in collaboration with Public Relations Officer.

  1. Executive Term of Office

September 1st through April 31st.

  1. Voting Procedures

  1. Elections for the executive council for PANiC will take place once every academic year between March 15th and April 15th.

  2. Two weeks will be given during which time anyone can express his or her interest in being involved with the executive council.

  3. Elections will be held during a general assembly meeting and all members will vote anonymously.

  4.  A person that is not running for office will count the votes.

  1. Meetings

The executive council will have a minimum of one meeting per month.

  1. Amendments

Before any changes to PANiC may take place, they must be accepted by the club membership in a general assembly meeting. All final changes to the constitution must be submitted to the VP Internal Affairs to be added to the Students’ Union files.
