Coming to Writing: the Silver Drawings is an installation that presents a selection of 24 silver-plated domestic objects displayed on low white shelves, each with a mark or drawing running up the wall above it. The process of inscription emphasized in the repeated gesture of rolling/pressing an object up the wall, symbolizes touch as a way of accessing narratives quietly imbued in an object. Referencing essay, "Coming to Writing," by Hélène Cixious, in which the author defines the essence of being as inextricably linked to the act of writing, this work explores language as verbal and non-verbal signifier.
