Our research addresses the degeneration of balance control that is associated with aging as well as neurological disease. A specific emphasis of research is the effect of anxiety on the motor and attentional processes relevant to fall prevention. The laboratory is associated with the Southern Alberta Center for Successful Aging and has acces to a full complement of equipment for gait and balance assessment including:

  • Artinis® Oxymon Near Infrared Spectroscope
  • Neurocom® SMART Balance Master Clinical Research System
  • Peak Motus® Infrared Camera system (6 cameras)
  • Optotrak® Camera system (one camera bank)
  • Bertec® Forceplates (2)
  • Bortec® and Delsys® EMG systems
