Fear of Falling
Falling among the elderly often result in injury, reduced independence, and death. The costs associated with falling episodes place a significant strain on health care systems. Through funding by NSERC, Dr. Brown is investigating factors that contribute to the risk of falling in the elderly population. In particular, this program of research explores the interplay between anxiety, attention and motor control of balance.
