Otafest - Calgary, Alberta
As we head further north, we hit a much larger city and home to Otafest, the second largest anime festival located in Alberta held annually, usually around May. It is a two day event where you can participate in activities such as cosplaying, AMV contests, special guest speakers, talk panels, and all that fun stuff. They also have anime screenings and vendors. You can visit them at www.otafest.com.
Animethon is the premiere Japanese Animation festival of Western Canada, held at the Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton every summer. Revenge of the Death Note Live Action Movie!
Yes ladies and gentlemen, Kira/Light returns in the sequel to the first Death Note Live-Action movie, the man who believes he can rid the world of evil by murdering criminals through the powers of a notebook. Writing a name in the notebook will kill the person, provided that you also see his/her face beforehand. And just as the first time, it is being shown in specially selected theatres across Alberta as a one-time event on December 3rd, 2008. If you like Death Note, have an attraction to brilliant serial killers, or just like to see people die (you sick, twisted person, oh yes you are! You make Uncle Freddy all so very proud!), then don't miss this opportunity to see Death Note on a the big screens! For more information, please click here.

Movie: Bleach - Memories of Nobody - Hitting Selected Theatres in Alberta
Bleach - Memories of Nobody will be shown on the big screens in "High Definition" at selected theatres in Alberta on Monday, October 20th, 2008. It will start at 7:00 PM and is rated 14A. As I am aware of, there seems to be one theatre in Lethbridge showing it, and that is the Galaxy Cinemas one (owned by Cineplex Theatres) in Park Place Mall. For more information, please check it out at www.cineplex.com. It is also worthy to note that the language is in English (thus, dubbed), and not in the native Japanese language. If you like Bleach and don't mind it being English dubbed, then this is most definitely something to take a look at!
