2007-2008 Executive Members
President -
Jefferson Davis
I am in
the second year of my undergraduate degree in Anthropology at
the University of Lethbridge. I've had an interest in
anthropology from a young age. I always expected to make it my
major at university. However, I took three years off between
high school and university to be adventurous, live in a variety
of places, and experience living in some interesting cultures.
Out of my time travelling, I determined that my interests lie in
reflecting upon the diversity of culture and studying languages.
In particular, I'm interested in political and legal
anthropology. After I am finished by Bachelor's degree, I intend
to pursue a Master's degree after a short time of travelling and
stuff.
Vice President - Jillian
Deheer
I am a
third year Anthropology student at the University of Lethbridge.
I transferred here from Red Deer College where I took my first 2
years. I knew I wanted to get into Anthropology
when I was in 9th grade and attended a summer camp at the
University of Alberta which had an anthropology component. I
have had some great opportunities for field study, spending a
month in Africa with Red Deer College in 2006, and a month
working on an active archaeological dig in Taber Alberta, with
Professor Shawn Bubel in 2007.

External Representative - Ashley Haughton
I
have been an executive member of the Anthropology Club since it
was re-established in January of 2006. Currently I hold the
position of External Representative and am responsible for most
of the emails club members receive, attending Student’s Union
meetings and other “external” stuff. I am in my last year
of a degree in Anthropology and Political Science. I have
just started my undergraduate (honours, hopefully) thesis on
power-sharing arrangements in post-conflict societies, in
which I will look at Bosnia, Lebanon, and Burundi. Some of my main academic interests
include genocide and conflict studies, inter-ethnic relations
and international law and politics. I am looking forward
to all of the exciting events we have planned for the year!
Kimie Sudo, Academic Coordinator
I am a fourth year
Anthropology student at the University. I have resided in rural
Lethbridge my entire life and have been actively involved in
various cultural organizations within the community. I have had
the opportunity to travel to Japan a number of times, and also,
to see first hand how the large Japanese-Canadian population in
Southern Alberta have continued to embrace both cultures. This
exposure growing up has been influential in continuing my
studies in Anthropology. Soon after I graduate, I hope to pursue
a career overseas and to experience new cultural settings.

Coordinator
