Follow me across sun-bleached land
Where two red tail's sweep overhead
To the Buttes and see them firsthand
Grass the colour of hide fresh tanned
Choke-cherries in the heat they bled
Follow me across sun-bleached land
Clay mosaic and wind whipp'd sand
Cold shimmering in the creek bed
To the Buttes and see them firsthand
We'll take the trip that we once planned
But missed our chance, chose work instead
Follow me across sun-bleached land
It takes this walk to understand—
Gopher holes near so watch your tread
To the Buttes and see them firsthand
The dog will come at your command
Lanky mutt shining like black lead
Follow me across sun-bleached land
To the Buttes and see them firsthand
